Follow his lead and feed him when he acts hungy.
You wouldn't want anyone telling you, "Sorry....it's too early to eat now" when your tummy was growling.

Not sure what to tell you, I have a 3 month old baby, and she breastfeeds every 2 hours still! I just take it from when I know shes hungry...
I think I would let your son tell you when hes hungry, I know it might be hard to get off a schedule, but make sure you are feeding him when he is hungry! I think it will be a while before you go every 4 hours.....

My baby is 5 mnths old and he is still drinking an 8oz bottle every 3 hours. But he is also on ceral. I suggest you go by what he wants. But if you want to stretch things out a bit I would start now and do it before bedtime so he'll sleep through the night if he is already not doing that. When a baby wants to eat, he needs to eat! haha especailly my baby. He is already 21lbs and the doc says he is purely healthy and he can eat as much as he wants cuz hell grow out of it. So juss like your baby, let em eat!

There isn't a good time to extend feedings.. especially that young. Your baby wants food when he is hungry, and he needs to eat when he's hungry. Extending feedings is just going to make him deal with being hungry, it's not going to help him. Let him feed when he wants too..

When your baby is about six months old he will start on solids and then I would say his would eat less often. Don't try to set him on a schedule. Feed him on demand, this will keep your milk supply up and keep him growing. He will start going longer between feedings soon enough and you will miss those times together. Enjoy him while he is little.

all you can do is not feed if he's not crying. if he makes it 4 hours great. if he gets hungry before then, feed him. You could try giving him an ounce or two more each feeding.

remember me ?
you gave me some suggestions on baby names, and i want to know how to pronounce " Alesia, Camila, "
sorry im askning here but the option of e-mailing you is denied in your account, plz e-mail me back
but... to answer your question : i think this type of situation should be Expremental. some babies might be ready for a change in feeding habits now, and others might be ready at a later time.
good luck

You can probably start doing this now. But really you should be taking ques from him on when to do it. If he isn't crying to be fed, then you can wait. Let him figure out a routine and try to work with it!
