Just use common sense. Don't buy from anyone with poor feedback ratings. Don't buy anything that looks too good to be true.

PS they are wary of you too - some people won't even sell to someone who hasn't already made ten purchases.

I never had any problems with ebay. But i would never buy anything expensive from there, or be prepared to spend more than i could afford to lose as you just don't know. I generally use it for cheap bargains. Always look at peoples feedback and read it and never buy any jewelery perfume or expensive stuff, always check how much the postage is and NEVER buy from Hong Kong Nigeria or other country's. this is where the most fraud and counterfeit items are. Also if you buy from abroad, you are liable for the tax and shipping it over which can cost quite a lot. Happy shopping
P.S if you see something which looks to good to be true, then it is. Don't bid on it!

My fear with Ebay is that you're buying stuff unseen - yes you see a photo but what if, when you receive the package, its faulty or not quite what the photo said it was? This is the main worry with buying second hand stuff.

What if when you get the thing you've bought it doesn't work or you have problems with it?

And then I guess there is a the danger of getting ripped off - although I imagine that if someone took your money and didn't send you your goods you could report them to Ebay and get your money refunded.

I'm expecting my first baby and as our finances are tight I did check out Ebay and buy a few little things - mostly baby clothes. But mostly I've bought second hand things from the ads in my local paper or Adtrader - people selling on unwanted stuff. Because that way you can go to their house and have a good look at the thing and test it out before you buy it and you don't have to worry about it not being sent etc.

it is pretty insecure really! If you think about it, you can't go back to the shop and complain! and the ebay management are too busy to give a hoot that you've been ripped off -as they are dealing with the first 10,000 complaints! For a buyer, I recommend using paypal - at least they will usually refund your money if the item does not arrive. and if those sunglasses turn out to be more specsavers than Gucci, you can always sell them on ebay - for cash or a cheque, of course! Never use Escrow or Western Union money transfers

Thr first man's link is very over the top. If you notice, they are all major cars for major money in the US.

I buy and sell on eBay allll the time. I'm addicted to eBay, go on it everyday! But, that does not mean I would buy a posh car which I have never seen, for a ridiculous amount of money.

Try it out, buy small things like clothes etc, not very much. Build up your knowlegde; then if you want to, go for bigger / higher priced things.

Don't be put off - Happy Bidding!

I use pay pal and have had good reports to make. Never had a problem and once when I ordered games and had paid for them, I think the seller was dodgy as pay pal and eBay refunded my money and the person was shut off eBay. I live in Spain and either have goods sent here direct (no probs) or had them sent to a family member in UK (no probs either) I like eBay (UK) Spanish version is not so good as there are no bargains, but that is Spain in general anyway, things are cheaper in UK if you are looking for a bargain anyway. I think it's because there is so much competition to sell. Here we have no choice it's take it or leave it. Sometimes it sucks living in the sun!!

Ebay is nothing but a bunch of cons. When you set up; there as a seller, they have alot of ways to collect money from you, before you know it your putting out lots of money to add pictures, set up your page. etc.

They are also cons cause people can charge 'anything' for shipping and handling, they can charge whatever, and you end up paying most of your purchase on the shipping.

Never move and change your email account..and you can't go back to the old one, cause you are on another Internet service. That happened to me, and I can't log in again.. and go through the same thing I was doing before, so they will not refund my money owed to me.

Ebay is not what it's cracked up to be. They don't care about you really.. just want their money.
Another way it's a rip off, is it's all paid in American funds, even if you are living in Canada, and buying from a Canadian.. you pay in American funds, and more that way for your order.

No, but I've got a lovely story! I sold a moses basket, and the lady who bought it sent her brother round to collect it....and he was GORGEOUS! I nearly drooled and fainted at the door (and I'm not a single woman, so for me to feel this way just shows how lovely he was!). I left her feedback saying "your brother is a fox" and she replied saying he liked me too and would I like her to pass another message on. I stopped it all then and told her I was happily commited, but I do sometimes wonder what could've been!!

never buy anything on ebay. i did buy 3 things on ebay and what i received was damaged or secondhand while i ordered brand new ones. after i found out, on ebay, they dont care about the sellers, anyone who has the account on ebay can sell or buy stuff. this causes a lot of cheats and fakes on selling.

Great, only thing that ever happened to me was i got the wrong item but then the seller sent me the right item and let me keep the first thing he sent. Ebay is VERY seccure.
