Can anyone give me a philosophical or scientific explanation concerning exorcism, apart from a spiritual one?

The only scientiffic reasoning I have on exorcism is a dream malfunction combined with a lucid awakening ( Your brain has some error to it where it will supress your consciousness while your subconscious is let loose with your body in a nightmare state, sort of like sleep walking only way worse ). Depending on the exorcism case you could reason a way to that conclusion. Think of it as your consciousness fully asleep, the only problem is your subconscious is fully awake in a nightmare state. Your body wakes up without your consciousness waking up with it, leaving your awake body with a over active subconscious in a nightmare state. The other aspects to exorcism look to be waking up in a lucid dream state, it would feel real but your brain is still in dream mode projecting things into you perception. This is only a theory, but there are no other logical explanations other than the tried and true " thats impossible because I say so " scientific reasoning. Dreams for that matter have no real way to watch, dissect, measure, or reproduce so dreams fall into a catagory most sciences can't touch. Keep in mind science itself is still in it's infancy, it has a long way to go before it explains everything there is to explain flawlessly as well as prove it, most questionable questions fall into a spot science hasn't gotten to yet, so there are only theories waiting to be proven or disproven. As of the cure, certain drugs triggering the right spots, peace of mind, adjust diet and sleeping schedules to support proper sleep. Last note, subconscious archtypes play a role in nightmares, so that is why Satan and the other devils people are consistently found in exorcism cases. Whether the exorcism is Satan or a malfunctioning brain I can't say for sure, science hasn't caught up to my theories.

Being that exercising demonic spirits is a spiritual act, I think you will be hard pressed to find anyone who can give you a non-spiritual explanation. Anyone who does... is probably a kook.
