Rule 1: never try to match the color of your out fit. It is so out dated.
Rule 2: experiment with new colors and combinations.
Try tan color shoes, try a touch of gold (or silver) colored shoes.
Try flats in sequin in many colors - it is in fashion.
Rule 3: have fun dressing up.
