I prefer the day after thanksgiving or thanksgiving night but stores already have ALL of the Christmas stuff out now and Wal-Mart has already been using "christmas-y" themes in thier advertisments and in stores since the beggining of october. What really sucks though is that I live in Little Rock, AR and the radio stations here either don't play any at all or don't start until like Dec.20th. It's not that Christmas-y to hear the top 40 when Christmas shopping or trimming the tree.

Well it is now Nov. 1 and I am thinking "I really need to start my xmas shopping now!!!!!!" I love to get most of it done by Thanksgiving - that way I can sit back, relax and enjoy the holiday season! So to get in the right mind set for Christmas shopping - I might just start listening to some Christmas tunes now. Christmas music is absolutely joyful - and there is no reason why you can't listen to it when you want to. Do what you feel is right for you - don't worry about what others think!!!!!

Our tradition is to pop out the old Christmas vinyl's on thanksgiving night. But then they get put away until mid December. It seems that the consumers world wants to start ever so early, heck the stores here all ready have Christmas things out in the stores and Halloween wasn’t even over with yet. I actually even saw one store in the mall all decorated as well. A bit too early for me! I don’t think there is really and true answer to your question, it's whatever you want to do and what ever traditions you want to make. I have learned being a mother that the kids really do enjoy the traditions we start for them. I never noticed that until they became older and it makes me smile…..as I hope you do some day as well!

I always start listening to Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving. During my shopping, I blare it in my car. Then, I come home from a long day, and put up my Christmas Tree, blaring the music on my home stereo. My husband hates it, at least he says he does(he hums along), but my children love it.

You technically could listen to christmas music year round. I think that that is kind of stupid though because then it isn't as special and doesn't get you into christmas as much when christmas season comes. I think the best times to listen to christmas music is pretty much anytime in the month of december.

Here in the Philippines, being a predominantly Christian country, it's acceptable to play Christmas music as early as September (the "BER" months).

But I think the earliest is the second week of November.

After Thanksgiving. A radio station here starts playing Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving. I usually start decorating the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Really it is up to you. Personally though I remember the old saying about it being "bad luck" so I think the 1st December is always a good starting time for Christmas music.
