A lot of people say that smokers can smoke in their private home but not in a bar. Aren't bars private property? How do you justify voting to determine policy in a private bar? Are we smarter than business owners? Do patrons really have a right to expect a private estabolishment to cater to their comfort beyond what is on the menu?

Why are innocent non smokers being 'forced' into such places to breathe the air? That is what should be illegal. Why aren't THOSE charges being investigated.

It's a health risk. All bars and restaurants are subject to certain laws governing the safety and health policies in the establishment. The government dictates what procedures must be followed for the food and drinks to be healthy, why not the air? As this is not a clear cut issue, the government left it to the voters to decide how they would like this health issue handled. If the majority of people want to breathe clean air in bars, then shouldn't the owners want to do that regardless of any law? It seems like it's just a good business move, regardless of how much people want you to think smokers will stop going there "out of principle". More non-smokers will start going there than smokers who stop going, so it's really win-win.

Hello! People VOTED for these smoking bans. It was on the ballot in Florida a few years ago and people voted to ban smoking in certain places. This is why people have to vote. If you have a problem with the way things are than do something about it! In Florida, as far as bars go, it's up to the owner. If they don't want people to smoke, they can prohibit it. If the majority of the sales is food, you can't smoke at all in that establishment. Personally, I don't want to smell smoke when I'm eating either.

i agree with everything else exept for bars . bars are for adults and you choose to go , it is common knowlege bars have a lot of smoke . there is no reason to hurt the owners business for whiny non smokers . some of these places are realling struggling , bands won't play there becuase they can't smoke , smokers refuse to go out of principal , and they are losing sells in tobacco . this is hurting the average business owner more than people think
