No, Germany was crippled after WW1 and many countries stripped the country of its assets. It wasn't good for Germany. The formation of the European Union and things like the UN meant that it was not necessary for 1 country to control Germany after WW2. The EU encouraged all european countries to have an open discourse.

First answer is valid, and I'd like to add thoughts. I was "there" BTW.

In any case one thing I HAVE to say immediately is that NO COUNTRY or POPULATION should be "controlled" in an oppressive, conquerer mentality.

WE,,, the USA and many nations historically, during times of war, tend to, by the act of war, destroy a countries economy.

In the case you mention, as well as the current WAR we are involved in... WE had to, and will HAVE to, have some involvement in REBUILDING that countries economy. To exert POWER in the form of control, after liberation, is as archaic as it was in the days when CONQUERING was the trend.

By the time Germany was defeated, and Europe in general was in shambles, WE as well as other nations had little choice but to help in reconstruction efforts. Certainly that may have been for humanitarian reasons in part, but was also to bolster and heal the global economy.

Uhh...

Are you asking hypothetically whether one country should have controlled Germany or is your history screwed up and you're asking why did one country control Germany?

My recommendation: delete this question and type a new one, using complete sentences and at least some resemblance of a coherent thought.

I think so...for a period of time. My next door neighbor is from Berlin and he hated that the Russians divided Germany into the East and West. As if that wasn't bad enough surely building the infamous wall in Berlin was
horrendous.
