What is the most inventive excuse for getting a day off work?

I'm thinking of taking a sickie and was hoping for ideas. Like 'a dinosaur ate my car', or 'I was abducted by an alien'. Please suggest something...

I have taken so many sick days I'm thinking of phoning in dead!

I don't work but here are some:

My cat got ran over by a motorcycle and I need to take it to the vet.

My car ran out of gas on the way to work. I was pushing it to a gas station and I got a stomach hernia and I have to go to the doctors.

I can't come to work today because the city is paving my street and I can't get out!

My wife is too sick to get out of bed, so I'm staying home to take care of her.

I won't be able to come to work next week . Were trying for a baby and the doc says next week is the best chance.

I was on my way to work when I was hit by a time warp which threw me back in history to the battle of Hastings in 1066. After helping the Normans defeat the Saxons I managed to find another Time warp to bring me back to the present, unfortunately, it was an hour later than when I left, that's why I'm late. Given by a sailor to the Master at Arms on the gangway of the ship I was on in the Royal Navy. The Master was laughing so much he let him get away with it.

I called work and told them that my sister was being sent to Iraq and was very upset about it so I need the day off to help her cope with it

I called work and told them that my appendix burst and I needed to take off for 6 weeks and I would prefer no visitor to the hospital or home and I went to Hawaii

I called in and told them that my grandmother who lives in Georgia had just called and needed me to come and sit with her for a month because she need to have surgery on her foot.
My grandmother died before I was born but just incase I needed ot use her as an excuse one day I always talked about her and keep a picture of her on my desk at work and believe me grandma has worked for me many times when I needed a day off

say your brakes have gone on your car and cant get in. if someone offers you lift in say you have to get top the garage to sort your brakes out. that way if anyone from your work sees you they dont think your pulling a sickie cos you never told them you was ill

The best excuse I heard was: 'I was in a pub and a riot broke out and the police came and sprayed C.S gas in the place. My eyes are still burning and I can't see.'

(phone in at 8am) and say 'My dog ran out at 7am and we are still trying ot catch him' Keep them posted throughout the day.

Don't ever call in sick in the middle of the week with flu / cold / bad back then go into work the next day!!

My brother-in-law "called in party." He wasn't sick, he just wanted to go to a party. He was scheduled to work even though he asked for the day off, and he NEVER asks for a day off and is never sick, so he called in party. Why not???

go to the boss with youre closest friend and let him tell your boss that you bumped your head falling down the stairs and you have temporary amnisia. and dont talk to any body on your job the secret stays between you and your friend

don't know about best excuse but my father in law has been rushed to hospital loads of times it's just that he doesn't know it.
