They are still made that way. But I think there are far more new technology in ovens that they dont really advertise that sutff anymore. Plus with the new types of cleaning products out there for clenaing ovens, you'd likely not want to advertise your oven product as "self-cleaning". I heard LG makes ovens that corrects the temperature so you have even cooking/baking.

Here is an easy way to clean the oven without little effort but might need a tiny bit of elbow grease! Put all the parts that are removable from the oven and place them in a double black bin liner and then on top of the items place a wet old flannel or even a j. cloth and then add a bottle of ammonia. Seal the bag and leave for 24 hrs (outside) and then take the items one by one and wash in hot soapy water. The grease should just fall off and hardly effort is needed to clean the pieces. The longer you can leave the bag with items in the better!
I have been using this method for the past 10 years and it has been a god send! Self clean ovens don't you believe it!!

Almost every stove is now self cleaning. I worked at Sears for awhile as salesperson. I know alot about them. Just tell the salesman that you want a self cleaning oven, and he can also show you some more features and functions. The industry of appliances have come a long way in the past 5-10 years.

All it takes is Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Duo. I use it for my oven, and I didn't have any problem. You may also browse this site http://www.upkb.com/mrclean.php to learn more how this product works.

i know exactly what you mean. You could just wipe the ashes from the bottom and it was wonderful. I had one and sold the house that it was in. If you want one though, you can look at a quality used appliance store. The most that you would have to replace would be an element!
