Most (95%+) vaginal odor is caused by an infection called "gardnerella" which causes bacterial vaginosis. While this infection can be passed between partners, it is not a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is one of the chief causes of vaginal odor. This odor may become more pronounced after having sex and is fishy in nature. This is the most common type of vaginal odor.

On the contrary... Its not normal !!! yeast infections are mostly caused Mostly by ANTIBIOTICS !!! and NOT your boyfriend....There's a better chance if the woman is sleeping around...I hear women talking about this.. and joking about the smell of fish.. I personally have never been with a woman that had vaginal Odor..I noticed you said you use Panty Liners.. It needs AIR ! Give it as much Air as possible..Cotton Panties.. It was once said, when pantys were invented also was vaginal infections..Douche is not good either..You have to attain a PH balance there..and that actually could be the start of Odors..I hope this helps you .... Good luck

Down-There Disaster 1: You Put in a Tampon, Forgot About It and Now You Can't Find It
The tip-off to a forgotten
tampon is the gnarly odor it produces. "The foul smell is brought on by an overgrowth of bacteria that thrive on bloody surfaces," says Sujatha Reddy, an Atlanta gynecologist and clinical assistant professor of ob/gyn at Emory University in Atlanta. "As days pass, the bacteria multiply, and the odor becomes stronger." Usually these bugs don't cause a full-blown vaginal infection, but they can trigger toxic shock syndrome ‑- a very rare but deadly condition associated with wearing a superabsorbent tampon for more than eight hours at a time. (Symptoms include a high fever and vomiting.) Problem is, once you realize it's in there, you may not be able to find the string. When a tampon is left in for a few days, the string can migrate out of reach.

Some vaginal odors is normal, if it is an offensive smell, there may be something wrong. See a doc about it. And dont use too many soaps and deodorants down there, sometimes it encourages the bacteria that cause odor. Cotton panties, and eating yoghurt, can help too.

I hope you are not being too harsh on yourself.
some odor would be normal, and if you have perspiration in your crotch it can be a little smelly.
it may not be your vagina at all.
