When you bring your children to school you are temporarily giving custody of your children to the school. They are then responsible for the care and protection of your children. The school can be held accountable if anything happens to the them while they are there. It also means that CPS and law enforcement can question or interrogate your child without you being present. They only need the permission of the school. It also means that the school is not necessarily obligated to release your child to you if you go there to get them. This is true in all public schools. I don't necessarily agree with this, I'm just telling you the facts.

You need to be more specific with your question.
Once the school has the child they are totally responsible for that child.
I am not really sure if that is giving up their rights or just shifting responsibility of that child from the parent to the school district.

I would never give up my rights to my children any where. Nothing comes between a mother and her children most of the time.I have heard of a few exceptions, but this mother retains all rights no matter what.
