belts got changed 6 weeks ago,

is it a duff battery or do i just need to tighten the auxillary belt, if the latter, how is it done??

the belts were only changed recently and have probably streched slightly so tighten your fan belt first then from halfords or a car parts shop you can by a spray can with something in it to help the grip (i cant remember what it was called but it worked a treat on my escort!) in relation to how its done is on the top of the alternator there is a bolt loosen this up but dont take off. now loosen the bolt on the underside of the alternator. from the top (front ) of the car move the alternator forwards or backwards depending on how your belt is positioned then tighten the top nut first then the underneath one

Noise in all probability from belt. Should have automatic tensioner. Take back to shop to check. A cheap approach is belt dressing applied to belt.
