My partner was born into an abusive and harsh family and is one of the most wonderful people in the world. You are who you choose to be, your parents made you they do not define you.

True; If you look at an apple tree and imagine the apples falling down there is no way for them to fall far from the tree, now is there?

No consolation in your parents being nuts, by the way. Nuts don't fall far from the tree either. :-)

The apple may not fall far from the tree but the nut tree just makes more nuts

It's definitely true, but realize this - the apple is only a seed of the tree, and can grow much taller and stronger if the conditions are right. My advice is make the conditions right and you will be much better off than the tree you were spawned from.

you should be fine as long as your parents aren't apples. you say they are nuts, so if you are an apple, that wouldn't be a problem. Maybe you can hope that this is a case of apples and oranges.
if life gives you lemons, then everything should be peaches and cream.

Darn I'm hungry

well, it depends. The apple doesn't fall very far from the tree. But if its on a hill, it could roll down..

Hi there, yes it is often true, but don`t worry too much about it yet `cause when you are young you really don`t act much like your parents and you have your own traits, the problem is that as you get to middle age you start to discover that, oh no! I am getting like my Mum/Dad, its inevitable(help!)

Then you have nothing to worry about. You're an apple and they are nuts. Problem solved. You won't be like them. (wink and smile)
