no, his comments were taken out of turn, he should not apologise, but it was an ill thought out statement.

John Kerry served in Vietnam unlike the current Commander n Chief. Kerry knows what it was like in Vietnam with 18 year old kids; many whom were not high school graduates......while many others took the route of college deferments to stay on U.S. soil! The vast majority of soldiers in Iraq today are not unlike those soldiers. Yes many are older and have a good education background and were fulfilling their obligations as reservists at the time of activation however what Kerry says still stands true for the grunts. I don't think any active soldier with an ounce of education is going to side with the conservatives that want to say that Kerry has insulted them.
In addition it is unclear that Kerry was addressing students or politicians.

My, my, my, such a lively discussion. May I address a few points?
1. John Kerry hasn't even come out to say, "Hey, that was taken out of context." If it was he should be all over it doing damage control, but he isn't. Obviously he meant it.
2. Sure John Kerry served in Vietnam, (for about 6 minutes). Then again, his service to the country and four dollars will get him a cup of coffee at Starbucks. In other words, unlike ancient civilizations, military service means next to nothing.
3. How do I know? Because I served in the US Army, and I'm not a "thick Yank". My military service gets me nothing extra in society; I did it, I'm proud of my service, but it doesn't get me squat.
4. So why do you want to compare Kerry's service to Bush's? Bush was a fighter pilot in the Air National Guard. His unit was never deployed to Vietnam...what, is it his fault? Oh, I'm sure that back in 1968 he thought to himself, "Oh man. I'm going to President of the US in 2006, I can't get hurt." Sure.
5. Along those lines I guess that you would all consider a soldier who was not deployed to Iraq - either because his job specialty was not needed, or because his unit just was not slated for deployment - a coward. Like Bush? Yup, that soldier is a coward because the US gov't did not send him to Iraq. Makes sense.
6. You are damn straight that none of the Bush girls are serving in Iraq. I bet that out of the 300 million plus residents of this country, 299.3 million won't go to Iraq, train in boot camp or ever see a military base except for Blue Angels demonstrations and the like........why........come on I know you can say it.........awww.
BECAUSE WE HAVE A VOLUNTEER MILITARY.
Not one child in this country will be ripped out of ther homes in the dark of night, drugged and dragged from class rooms or kidnapped off the streets and sent to Iraq because they didn't or will not graduate.
IF they sign up, IF they train and IF they deploy it will be because they were volunteers.

His statement was made because a majority of the miltary are republicans, thus it was a shot a republicans, but that tells you another reason not to have a democratic controlled government, too far left liberal mindedness will add to the mess we have today not make it better. We need balance. But sadly both parties are becoming extremists in their own right.....wont listen to or even attempt at compromise.

Do you know science and mathematics created the Iraq war?
Do you know living human kind got themselves kick on the butts by Mr. Big Brother of artificial intelligence expose by Orson Wells?
Do you know the war in Afghanistan and Iraq was over after the fall of the two countries?
Do you know something extra ordinary went. wrong out there was expose by those boys and girls out there?
Should the dirty old man kick the butts of those children back home and broad when he was at loss on what went wrong out there.
Should try and read Luke 21.8-35 before kicking them on their butts when they were out there for the good of mankind vital for the survival and advancement of living human kind on planet earth.
The blunders and slip-ups with human errors was created back in the past being expose with time.
Those boys and girls out there is not at their own whims and fancy when the dirty old man could not solve on what went wrong out there.

Kerry was not entirely wrong according to the United States Government Accountability Office...
Section 1E: Education - "We compared the education levels of servicemembers to those of the entire U.S. population and found that proportionately fewer servicemembers have attended college than in the U.S. population." (Source: GAO)
P.S. I saw a recruiting table in my local Walmart last night. It reminded me that Michael Moore was right in "Fahrenheit 9/11" about the poor and lower-middle class being the ones who fight and die in the battles of the rich. If it wasn't so late, I would have gone to Macy's to see if there was a recruiting table there, too.

Maybe he should apologize to the Troops for being taken the wrong way, but Hell No - Not to Bush or his Cronies. Think about it.... Do Bush or any of his cabinet have any of their children fighting over in Iraq???? And you bet your sweet *** every one of them got the best education money can buy!

Oh! H## yes. I've spent 17 years in the Army under dems and repubs and never once did they call me stupid. Perhaps Kerry should revamp his statement to say if you don't do you homework then you'll end up in vietnam. The bottom line is that those of us still serving and have served were'nt dumb we were either drafted or volunteered out of patriotism. Remember this though. Dumb comment's like his is why he is'nt the President.

Stupid is...what stupid says!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't get a college education, did better than most college grad's and retired at 38 years old. That sure makes me dumb. Huh??????????? Lol!!!!! College does not teach common sense & Kerry is a good example. I, too am a Vietnam veteran but would never dream of insulting our troops in Iraq. God bless them. Kerry is arrogant and his wife is a big mouth scank without any class. Sorry I voted for him but there wasn't much of a choice. Bush...........ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!! Most politicians suck!!!!! And "Yes" he needs to apologized to our troops and all of us Americans as well.
