Surely he has a point though. If you're going to risk your life for something, you better make sure the reason they give you is a genuine one, and not one that's a political strategy to instill unnecessary fear and hate in the public mind. I think it's fair to say that there are alot of regretful young men out there right now, that are, as Kerry said "Stuck In Iraq"

Not really, what's sad (and wrong) in this country is that a public figure can not say what the rest of us are (supposedly) free to say, political correctness is like a pendulum that has swung too far. We have freedom of speech, yet if someone says anything that will offend anyone else, there's a big stink. Political campaign commercials are free to bash and exaggerate negatively about the opponents yet Kerry can't say what a large percentage of us really think? Hell no, he shouldn't apologize.

John Kerry served in Vietnam unlike the current Commander n Chief. Kerry knows what it was like in Vietnam with 18 year old kids; many whom were not high school graduates......while many others took the route of college deferments to stay on U.S. soil! The vast majority of soldiers in Iraq today are not unlike those soldiers. Yes many are older and have a good education background and were fulfilling their obligations as reservists at the time of activation however what Kerry says still stands true for the grunts. I don't think any active soldier with an ounce of education is going to side with the conservatives that want to say that Kerry has insulted them.

Whether or not you think they are "stuck in Iraq," the fact is our military men and women are the most highly trained people we have! Kerry has no respect for them.
He should apologize!

Kerry was not entirely wrong according to the United States Government Accountability Office...
Section 1E: Education - "We compared the education levels of servicemembers to those of the entire U.S. population and found that proportionately fewer servicemembers have attended college than in the U.S. population." (Source: GAO)
P.S. I saw a recruiting table in my local Walmart last night. It reminded me that Michael Moore was right in "Fahrenheit 9/11" about the poor and lower-middle class being the ones who fight and die in the battles of the rich. If it wasn't so late, I would have gone to Macy's to see if there was a recruiting table there, too.

He should absolutely apologise! His words may have come, as he put it:
"...as a badly delivered joke regarding president Bush's Botched war."
But people putting their lives on the line shouldn't be caught in the firing line (Pardon the pun) of Kerrys attempts to have a stab at Bush... Even if he does deserve it.

I am REALLY sick of all the politicians SAYING something they MEAN and everyone asking for an apology. He OBVIOUSLY meant what he said - he's a jerk and we know it - now go vote for the other party if we want to see less of John Kerry.

Yes he should and did apologize to the troops.
Interesting side note, Bush jumped on him about it and said it implied the troops were stupid....
His quote "I beleive our troop at plenty smart......"
Plenty smart????? Obviously smarter than he is.......
