Quite often people neglect quality of life in favour of their careers. Perhaps as you grow older you begin to appreciate that quality of life equals working conditions and associated salary. The potential job that you describe would appear to increase you quality of life. It is also a public sector position. This generally means that while salary may not be as high as the private sector, the associated terms and conditions will be better than a corresponding position in the private sector. As an added bonus this position carries an extra £7000 ........ win, win! I think you would be foolish not to avail of this opportunity. If it doesn't work out you can easily move on and you will have earned at least, another notch in your CV,

I'd suggest go on the interview. When you learn more about the job specifically, like is it a new position within the company or are you replacing someone whose shoes will be hard to fit....Also, ask the question "I saw on your web site your company offers good benefits. I was wondering what these would be?" And then let them know you need a few days to think it over. Perhaps then go to your current boss to let them know you've been offered a job with more pay...more benefits...and perhaps you can have them both fighting over you. :o) You never know, but at least go on the interview. It'll give you experience if nothing else. Wish you luck!

You are really faced with a tough decision. I am also in a situation where I feel like I am being forced out of my job so I am currently looking for another. My concern however, is whether I wait for them to fire me or I get a new job and resign. I really am comfortable where I am now but I would hate to have to go to a new job and start all over again.
My advice to you is to analyze the situation carefully because more money doesn't always equal happiness.

make 2 lists...listing the pros and cons of each job. (Do the pros outway the cons for either job?) Do some financial figuring to compare possible annual incomes from job to job. But in the end, you have to do what you feel would be best for you.
My fiance just took a new job in a totally different field then what he had been in for the past 13 years...and he LOVES it. He is so glad he took the opportunity....even though it's a bit further to drive, he is making more money, feels more fulfilled in his job and has better job security while also receiving better benefits and a financial future.
Do what your instincts tell you to do! GOOD LUCK!

I would sit down and seriuosly consider the pros and cons of each job. And is the offer a for sure thing? You also need to look at the oppurtunity for advancement and where you want to be in your career set long term goals for yourself and rely on which job will put you closer to your goals if you are worried about the old job and leaving them short handed sit down with your current superviser or boss with this list and your goals and let him or her know what your plans are and where you need to be to accomplish this.If you are a valued employee he will either accomodate you or wish you well in your new position

The thing to ask yourself is: Will I be stressed all the time if I take the new job? Will I be able to do everything expected of me? Will I be happy working with new people? In my opinion, happiness comes before money. If you are happy where you are now why don't you stay. You could ask for extra duties to give you more of a challenge.

Seems like you have already answered this question yourself as the only reason you had for staying seemed to be out of loyalty!
You will settle in the new job eventually just as you have where you are now. Good luck.

I think that you should go with your gut. You have to go which will challenge you and more money. I think you will be happier in the long run. Don't worry about letting the others down, they will understand, and no matter where you go there will ALWAYS be office politics. Good luck in whatever decision you make.

You must sit down and weigh the pros and cons of the offer. And choose which is best ofr you. Me personally, would go for the money, especially since you said you would feel very comfortable in this position. Good luck and God bless, Personally, I would hand this over in prayer.
