Wouldn't think you needed a licience since you say you are't taking any money for doing it.. Guess it depends on how many you are attending .. and what you are reallly getting out of it..
either you are a very good kind hearted person or you are getting something out of it..
it is always best to have a licience or something written on paper in case something happens to this person.. If you have a clear back ground check.. No felonys or abuse record.. you are fine.. got to social services and tell them that you are caring for them on your own and they may get you some monetary payments so that you are compensated for your kindness.
Make some phone calls and find out .. they don't know who you are over the phone.. just don't use your own phone.. ask the questions you want to find out about and then go talk to them in person if something needs to be done or in writting that you are caring for them.. always best to be legal in everything you do..and maybe get paid for doing it..

i think that you need a license to take care of the elderly if there not in your family. because you have to have training and be able to tell if something is wrong or not.

I think most states needs to have some form of police clearance & they need to have record of you to ensure you are sincere on doing good deeds & not taking advantage or robbing the elderly.
