I have watched every Saits game this year. (Direct TV)

You do not wait for a Running Back to develop. They show what
they are is the first game they play.
Even if they share time and do not get alot of carries you judge they based on what they do when they do get in the game.

You judge a Running back by 3 things.
Yards Per Carry
Rushing yards
TDs
Period!!!

Don't give me kick and punt returns and catching the ball. That is just a bonus. Oh by the way if you watched every saints game you can tell that Bush is not that great a kick returner. Sure he returned a punt for a TD but watch all of his touches and what he does with it.
Sure M. Faulk was great as a WR but check out his rushing stats.
Do you thing is he were not able to produce when he was handed the ball he would be considered a great back? NO!
Face it people. What you see is what you get. this is him.
He is not going to get any better or worse. Put him in the pro bowl as the best decoy. hahaha

I have not watched every Saints game, but I think you'd be crazy to write him off after one half of a rookie season that has hardly been a failure. He even won a game for you with a punt return.
I'll only agree that stats like yards per touch, and all-purpose yards (combining return yards) can be misleading. But, here is a bonafide playmaker who can beat you in a lot of different ways. Defenses account for him on every single snap.

As a Birds fan, I'll trade you Westbrook (who I like) for him, and I'll throw you back Dante Stallworth (feel free to give us Marcus Colston..

Not a bust by far, and you really don't have any say in how or when you judge a back. For now, being a decoy IS a big thing for his offense. You can't say being a pass catcher is just a bonus, it helps keep the defense honest. And comparing him to Marshal Faulk has no berring, as 1) He's just a rookie, give him some time and 2)so being "no marshal faulk" makes him a bust? can't he be pretty good without being great? Would a QB who was drafted in the 1st round, but not quite as good as Tom Brady (who was out of the 6th) be a bust?

As for his YPC, yeah, I can kinda agree that they suck, but the saints need to stop running him up the middle. I don't care if he says he can, he's 6ft 203 --most backs that height are ~230lbs. He needs to get shorter, or heavier, and the former isn't possible. Barry Sanders IIRC, has the record for most yards lost, but is he not a great RB?

Give the kid a break

I think we can be sure he is not going to be a Barry Sanders.

He is one of the top receivers in the league in terms of receptions. It might not be the typical measurement used to gauge RB's but it helps the saints offense a lot.

As far as Rookie not being important that is not true look at Tiki Barber or Larry Johnson. They didn't have break out Rookie years. Some RB's do start with great numbers from day 1 like Sanders but not all do.

The jury is out on Bush until next season.

I don't think it's fair to make such a quick assessment, but it does drive me crazy how ESPN will list every single thing he does-rush yards, receiving, and return yards. You can probably find a half dozen other players in the league who get as many all purpose yards every game they play, but we sure don't hear about them now do we? He is overrated, as he hasn't done anything to this point to prove his worth. I predicted the best rookie running back would either be Maurice Drew of the Jaguars, or Laurence Maroney of the Patriots. Both guys are sharing carries just like Bush, but both guys have way more yards and TD's than him.

Wow ! I've never seen a fan give up on a player so talented this quickly. Do ya think Houston made the RIGHT call by not taking Bush? Why don't you ask their fans!

Wow. It seems like you have it all figured out. Why don't you go apply for the coaching position since you know sooo much about football. I am sure they really want to know your thought on the matter.

He's not a bust. He's the key reason that the Saints are having a successful season.

Now he is behind Deuce. He is still trying to play like he did in college and that is not going to work. Just like you said they use him as a decoy and it works so they won't change that. If he went to Huston 1st round he would still play the same. In my thought he is not ready for the NFL. in 5 years maybe not now.

He has the same publicity as Michaek Vick during his rookie season.

I have to admit that he's under-performing.

But I am sure he will turn it around.
