ALl this keeping women indoors and off the streets sounds really funny to me. Makes me wonder about the men in places like that since all they want to look at is men and then keep the women covered from head to toe. A woman is not a slave nor here for mans convenience. Its a partnership and when ends dont meet then the woman goes to work so they wont have money problems and can live comfortably. It also gives the woman some security in case hubby decides to split with a newer model. It also keeps women from going crazy having only children to talk to and the same four walls to look at day after day. Thinking the way you do only shows me that you really fear women and fear losing your power of being a man. Women are just as good if not better at many jobs. Men are not smarter than women some may be stronger than women but there are plenty of men who are really weak.. Women have a different perspective of things which is needed in the workforce too. Countries where they keep the women locked up all the time everyone is nuts and become terrorists it seems. I couldnt imagine driving down the street and only seeing men all over the place. It would be like looking at things always in black and white since women are the color of the world and thats why she shouldnt be covered up. Thats why those people are so evil and crazy because they never see any beauty. A woman can easily work and take care of her family . If the man is working then he isnt home all day anyway so whats the point of the woman having to be home all day. If the man isnt a pig and picksup after himself and the kids are taught to keep thier messes picked up the two tasks are easily done. Now if you make mega cash and your woman can go shopping and spending whenever she feels like it with the money you give her than sure why should she go to work. Hell if that were the case I wouldnt go to work either but I wouldnt be staying home all day either being a maid . I would hire one.

One might ask why men have to work away from the home. Society seems to have this idea that women have always stayed home and done no more than washing and cooking and perhaps raising the children. A careful look at history will find that this is not so. While most women did work out of their homes, they were busy raising extra chickens for eggs to sell at market, creating beautiful cloths, growing vegetables and herbs that they bartered or sold to their neighbors and townspeople. And, at the same time, the "typical" man was home on his family farm raising food for his family, the extra perhaps going to market for "luxuries."

In today's society, it takes very little time for a woman (or a man!) to do the traditional "cooking and cleaning." And worst of all, no real challenge to a woman's creativity, as these tasks have become relatively easy to manage. Working outside the home is a natural evolution of a person's need to express their creativity/productivity and get a reward for it.

woman are equal and should be given the same opportunity to work if they want. If they think that they are better served at home then so be it.. It is a personal preference and not for one person to tell everyone what is right or wrong. My wife did not work till the kids were older and able to do everything on their own.(middle teens) we also have jobs that she is at work while the kids are in school so there is no home time lost with the kids..I do not believe a woman should be kept at home just because she is a woman. She should be able to fulfill her goals, whatever they may be....Dads are just important in a home....for the one comment that woman make the miracle of life...the last time I checked it took two to do it. Unless you went and got artificially inseminated and then it still took both genders...

If you can support a family in comfort on one income then power to you and I say let the woman stay home and raise the children properly. However, in todays world, it is mainly 2 incomes that have to help hold the fort. I stay at home and I would not mind working outside the home as I would feel like i was helping to contribute to our needs and wants, but I realize the contribution I am making for our children is greater than that of money.

What 14th century rock did you crawl out from under?

If a woman wants to work, she has every right to. You can swallow your manly pride and work too, of course. You can also help out around the house by cleaning, cooking, doing maintenance, and so on.

A woman is not a piece of property who dotes on your every beck and call. If you think that's not true, then do this little thought experiment. Spend a few moments in your mind, imagining what the perfect woman would be for you. What would she do, how would she act, what are her thoughts.

Now put yourself in that role, and try to imagine yourself doing all of that for a woman who was working for a living all day long, supporting you, the kids, the dog, etc. How long would it be before you were unhappy with your role?

Ok. Many women would probably love to stay at home, but unfortunately in today's society and economy it takes two to make a reasonable income, that is if you want to own a home, have a car to drive and places where to vacation. If you don't want to live out the American dream then by all means women should stay home and have their husbands go to work and come home, go to work and come home.

Some women like to stay at home, but others like to have careers. Women should have the choice.

I agree with you in some aspects. I am a stay at home mom and I do think it is usually best for the children, but with the economy the way it is in America, the average American cannot afford the luxury.

It's equal rights. Women want to be seen as equals. Women are definately not mens' lessers. Women can create the only miracle on Earth. Birth. Maybe she just wants to have some spending cash of her own. Maybe she wants to help take some of the monetary burden of her man. Maybe she just wants to prove to herself that yes, she can do it if she had to. There are many answers to your question.
