No Democrats have even defended Kerry's comments. Proof positive that his own party is DONE with him and his nonsense.

Is the silence of his party on his MISTAKE proof of what a HUGE MISTAKE it was?

They are distancing themselves like they did when Dean made a joke of himself. I am embarrassed to say I am a Democrat because since the late 70's, the party left the working man, and parallels itself with Labor and the welfare group.

Having served, I think it was a MAJOR slap in the face to the men and woman who serve our country. It is an all Volunteer force and these people signed on the dotted line. Has nothing to do with education as many have college and OCS under their belts and are officers.

Kerry is a moron with money, plain and simple. I would love to debate him any time he wants.

I served six years of Active Duty in the U.S. Army and it was not because I was too stupid/poor or whatever to go to college. On the contrary, I had been to college already and had the means to return, had a good paying waiter's job, had offers to move into management, and I'm a member of Mensa.

I joined the Army for many reasons, but mainly to serve my country. Yes, the GI Bill and other financial incentives played a role, the same as they do FOR ANY OTHER JOB in a free market economy. After five years in the Army, my gross pay as sergeant E-5 was over $40,000 annually, and this was without a degree. Seven years later with a degree in chemistry, I am yet to earn that much money.

Wonder if it's too late to go back and be one of those desperate stupid kids in the Army who can't do anything else...

Problem with the Dems on the national level is that they insist on being heard after they lose. In 2003, Al Gore was threatening to run again, remember? Kerry needs to pack it away and let it go. I supported Kerry in '04, but we (Ohio notwithstanding) barely lost. Fine - focus on this year and 2008, but get the former front-runners off the stage.

It was only a mistake if people hear about it.

Think the media is going to cover it? Think that liberals who also think troops are stupid but who aren't stupid enough themselves to say so will mention it?

Their strategy is going to be the "tree falls in the forest and nobody hears" routine.

The only way this comment would be a mistake is if the RNC spends a lot of money replaying it nationwide for the next few days. The media isn't going to do it for them.

Kerry has a talent for placing his foot into his mouth. Everyone knows that!
But Kerry's big mouth doesn't make Bush any smarter either......
in line with what the real comment was supposed to be in reference to.

you got that right

especially given the upcoming elections

they all agree with him in their hearts but being good Dems

they lack the guts to step out and say anything meaningful

typical Dem politicians

what they will wait for will be the pundits Russert and Chris Matthews will come to Kerry's aid this weekend

and change the focus lame stream media is good at that

Actually, I am not a Kerry supporter, or anything......but, I did take his comment as a slur on Bush.....not the troops.

He was trying to make a jab at Bush's stupidity.....without carefully thinking out his words. I really see no reason for him, or anyone else to slam the troops. Even he wouldn't be that stupid, surely.

I think that Bush has jumped at the opportunity to take advantage of Kerry's poorly worded comment.

Just my honest impression.....I am not into politics, at all.

If you were a politician, would you back that comment? Yes, huge mistake, and one that will haunt him the rest of his political career. He's done for...

He said he was joking but nevertheless I thought he was out of line. I have a sister who is serving in Iraq and she is well educated and putting her life on the line for our country and to me she is not a joke.

No it just shows it wasn't a big deal and only republicans are attempting to distract everyone from the real issue at hand.
