Need more info in order to help you...what class level?...what field of chem?...writing project or lab demo?...what is an 'investigatory project'?
Please resubmit your question anew with as much info as possible so that we can offer reasonable suggestions...if you simply edit this one we cannot reply twice to same question.

Consider buying a cheap bottle of bleach and suspend (half in and half out?) various samples of cloth, print, cloth covered with various stains. Bleach affects some but not all molecules and since light consists of photons (traveling at the speed of light!) that interact with the electrons of atoms and molecules, changing the molecules affects which photons (colors) are absorbed or reflected. Bleach can also be added to one of two matched liquid samples to demonstrate if a change does or does not occur. Explain why some fabrics are "fast" and others are not. A "true blue" friend refers to a blue dye that was permanent and would not run! There are many possibilities. Friend's hair samples??? Good luck.
