I read that NASA is going to bomb the south pole of the moon some where in October 2008. In search for evidence of water ice left by comets that slammed into the moon billions of years ago. So, does it mean that there would be like a hole in the moon? Are they doing it out of curiosity?

No. NASA is not going to bomb the moon. There are no explosives involved.

They are going to crash a spacecraft on the moon to see if they can observe ice crystals in the ejecta. "Ejecta" is the cloud of debris that is created by a crash or meteor impact.

NASA has done this before.

Nasa has already bombed the moon in the 60's and 70's by crashing spacecraft into them. The crashes were monitored by equipment placed on the moon by astronauts.

Serious? Sounds odd.

if there is a hole, they would use something to cover it up... and i dont honestly think they are doing it outta curiosity.the moon is a possible 'our next planet to live in' kinda thing and they most likely would not prefer to experiment or satisfy their curiosity.
