I think everyone is racist to some degree. If they say they aren't they are hiding behind political correctness.
I live in London and there is more diversity here than anywhere else I've been to. Because of the mix and the crowds, you tend to put up barriers of some sort. And if people piss you off in any way, you tend to blame it on something, and unfortunately the easiest one is race.
Having said that, I know it is easy to overgeneralise and once you get to know people on an individual level, I'll treat them as an individual.

Racists come in all shapes and colors. A simple definition of a racist would be one who hates other races based on a negative set of ideas, or stereotype.
I don't know if you can label somebody as a racist because they tell an ethnic joke. If that's the case, then people like Carlos Mencia would be defined as racist, has he tells ethnic jokes about everybody, including his own heritage.
I also don't think that you can label politicians as racist when they are addressing how to control the influx of immigrants into this country. While some may be racist, I dare say that the majority see it as a national problem with varying consequences that could destabilize certain economic centers within the country. Communities can only handle so much extra growth in population before service sectors start to break down. To much growth in such a short time would have a negative impact, thus causing economic ruin and chaos.

Usually a turly racist person is someone who is misinformed. How can you say that you don't like a person or a group of people just because of the color of their skin? That would be like saying you don't like the taste of a certain food just by the way it look. Racism have exsisted from the beginning of time and will continue until the end of time, sad but true. Ignorance is bliss and racism is ignorance in any form. But remember that to let racism or those people that ask those ignorant racist jokes are not worth getting angry or upset over. Especially when they are ignorant enough to use God's name as a crutch. Believe me they will get their just due.

No alot of people tell racist jokes but are not racist,i know of 1 person who i believe is a true racist and it is more complex then you think ,he is always going on about the politics of things and relates alot to Germany eg Hitler,on the other hand my son has on his records through the education system been branded a racist and it has to stay on there which is wrong after him and another child traded insults but the racist comment was the only one to deserve action, the stupid thing about it is i have black friends and when i told them they could not believe what the school had done even they said it was stupid but the kid is stuck with it now

You can't.
I lived in South Africa under Apartheid, and real racism means you sincerely believe that a certain race is less than human when compared to your own.
These feelings come out in times of extreme stress, people do incredibly good or bad things in such times. You cannot really tell who is who beforehand. Trust me.
EVERYONE makes jokes or insults those who are different, when the difference is racial you can call it racist - and in polite society it is. But then if we insult the Germans because of football, or the Australians insult us because of rugby - how is that different.
When we are living in a civilised society, a racist is someone dumb enough to voice a generalised opinion about another race. Then they are racist ( but mainly dumb).

Much of the racism today is started by jokes.
I am from Liverpool and have now moved outside of that area.
Many of the people were I now live have judged me on scouser jokes (ie) Keep your car bolted down there is a scouser about. Although I am sure it is done in fun, if an item of worth went missing i would be under suspicion because of my birth place. So maybe we need to scrutinise our jokes much more before we just laugh at them because over time people begin to identify jokes with the origin of the person.

Just because you laugh at a "racist" joke, doesn't mean you're racist. You might not be offended by it, while some others would be. You might not think it's racist, when some others would. Even if you did think it was racist, you might laugh at the bad taste of it or because you felt you shouldn't. Political correctness makes people tell these jokes so they can burst out of the strait-jacket that is put on people nowadays. You can't say anything anymore in case you offend someone. It's ridiculous. Whatever happened to freedom of expression?
Why are you so obssessed with racists anyway? You'll never change their minds. Do your thing and leave them to theirs.

i dont think telling a joke would consider someone a racist..cause if i tell an irish joke, does that make me racist against irish people..no, because im irish..its derogatory comments that are not jokes that make someone racist...illegal immigration is what politicians are discussing now..which does not make them racist either..they are doing whats right for the country..so to sum up...if you talk negative about a group by using the term "black" "mexican" "white" or slangs about those groups in a negative way, that is racism

You cant until they open their mouths and say someting offensive. I wouldnt say its racist to talk about immigration control, it is a serious issue, after all. (Although some take it way over board).
Ok as for an example, a couple of people i've met actaully came out of nowhere basically telling me everything they knew about black history. I mean it was like they saw me, and i saw them...and they couldnt think of something to say...so they just started telling how amazing martin luther king was. I mean, who does that??? So im going to guess their a little racists and just dont want me to know or....maybe their just crazy??? I dont know...lol
thats all i wanted to share,
peace and love- chai

i think racism is way overhyped. nowadays, the meaning of the word has been broadened to the point where if a white person doesn't get down on their hands and knees and worship the nearest minority, he/she is automatically labled a racist.
let's face it. a racist is a person OF ANY RACE that hates people automatically for being a different race. but our culture has been so brainwashed by the media, hollywood, and education into believing that there's a klansman on every street corner just waiting to find a minority to pounce on and lynch. it's just not the truth.
but the race baiting marxists of the world depend on racial chaos to further their push towards socialism. so they'll drum it up where it didn't exist to keep racism alive. this is identical to the "divide and conquer" method used by the communists in 20th century russia.
