"Aim High, Fall Hard then Bounce Back" this is the motto i try to live by. Everyone fails at one time or another, this is all part of man's nature or the cycle of one's life.
In my point of view, everything happens for a reason, we might fail in achieving an important goal but that doesnt mean we are losers. Adversity sometimes is the best teacher, thus a failure is just another opportunity to learn.
The most important thing to do is to learn from our mistakes, get over our failure and then try again. We should also contemplate if that goal was really meant for us to achieve in the first place, maybe we're trying to hard for something that is just not meant to be. Acceptance is the key to happiness, a wise woman once told me.
We have the gift of choice. We can sulk about our failure or do something about it. The bottom line is, Life is too short to focus on our failures and mistakes, while we are still alive we have every opportunity to make things right.

I would say to evaluate the progress made toward the goal or target and praising oneself for that. Oftentimes, people set unrealistic goals for themselves, family members, friends, etc. - and then feel bad or hurt when goals are not achieved. Constant evaluation of a person's life, goals, obstacles, and progress will allow a person to see real results toward a goal, even if the goal itself is not achieved.

Also, evaluation of goals that were set in the past and evaluation of progress will allow a person to see if the goal actually fits in with a person's life any longer. If a goal or target is not something that the person would actually benefit from or deals with something that the person is no longer interested in, then the goal should be exchanged with something that is more fitting to a person's current needs and interests.

I hope that helps!
