We hear alot of talk about Iraq and the War on Terror, but what about the forgotten war? The War on Poverty has been waged for DECADES and cost untold TRILLIONS of dollars. It has only created more poverty than every before, and there is no end in sight. Talk about a "quagmire"! Isn't it time to cut-and-run and finally admit this is a war we cannot hope to win?
There have been no benchmarks set to determine progress, there is no timtable for withdrawl. This is an endless suckhole for federal dollars, and as a taxpayer, I believe we have better things to to with our money.

Capitalism perpetuates poverty. Until the United States changes its system, poverty is guaranteed to exist. We live in a class based system and the upper class with all of its money constantly steps on the lower classes and theire is not much you can do about it because all of ther politicians are influenced by the upper class. Some other countries have cool ways of dealing with everyone fairly but in order to be apart of that you would have to move. When you eat a candy bar you throw it away in a garbage can rather than carrying the trash to the dump. You have now created and legitimized the need for a garbage man to pick up your trash at a low wage and take it to the dump for you. Its not your fault but little actions we all do create the need for low income jobs that keep people stuck in lower classes because they wont be able to afford a decent education. In many cases today kids are so lazy they would rather work at McDonald's then use their brains at a desk job.

Poverty is what keeps those in power, in power. It won't end. This 'war' a masquerade to make us believe that 'they' will actually do something about it. If they really wanted to, they would have donated their excess to end poverty instead of owning 17 houses and mansions and 500 cars, 2000 pairs of shoes, 38 closets full of clothing, safes full of gems and gold, etc etc etc.

I agree that the government spends to many $ on red tape and not enough feeding and housing the poor.
And yes we cannot hope to win this war..until we realize we are not the worlds police force.
I believe that this war on poverty has never been taken seriously by the nation as a whole. Each of us should understand that we all must play a part. And lets face it most people don't want to be involved with anything that isn't part of their own little life.
Next we as Americans must agree to curtail some of our personal freedoms in order to get this sort of task working... Work camps, for delinquents, felons, and as public service.. thats just to begin...Camps or farms...Work all day in the blazin' sun.. guards -chains- Electro collars-- my kind of efficiency.
No more paying farmer not to produce...pay them to produce...and every ounce of extra goes to food distribution centers in every city and town in the USA.
After that we use our Militatry transports to ship the food to foriegn ports in africa, south america, and asia, where ever it's needed and we give it away...that will help repair our image over seas.
We as a nation stop giving our taxdollars to anyone!!!! that isn't a US citizen...and we also stop corporate tax cuts.in cities and town everywhere in america..
Housing and security in that housing is our next issue, all that money we don't give away...goes to redevelope large scale efficient housing for the urban poor as well as the sub urban and rural poor.. And I said efficient!! Not wooden boxes in the desert or the mountains.!! Wind resistant curved forms made of concrete and buiolt by the army corps. so that we know they won't cost stupids amounts of dollars, LIKE THE BIG DIG!!!!
I hope that my rant hasn't disturbed you to much but I don't think it's time to cut -n-run.
I think its time to focus on our own.

The Bible, if had insisted on swearing in on the e book of Mormon i imagine you'll have had diverse Mormons quite mad, myself lined. Swearing in on the e book of Mormon would have made maximum persons imagine we do not believe contained in the Bible, and that would want to were a real undesirable component. Swearing in on the Bible would have had smart human beings rethinking what their pastor suggested very last Sunday about Mormons not being Christian.

well we could let Mr bush continue to kill off the young people in this country and it is pretty certain that the ones who come backs will be victims of chemical warfare so they now too can be added to the list that will continue to grow as long as people like Bush are allowed to do the kind of damage that Man has done to this country
