I'm so sorry you've lost your cat........you must be devastated.
We lost one of our cats when it was hit by a car in our road, so my heart goes out to you - ignore what some of the other *rseh*les have written here.
I agree that you need to ensure that children and cats are as safe as possible, but both need to leave the house at some stage or other and it would nice to think that other people would have the same respect for safety as you - there should be no need for signs if everyone acted in a responsible manner, but sadly they don't.
If I knew my cat was deliberately run over and I knew who did it, then all I can say is that they had better be careful whenever they found themselves alone in a dark alley.
All life is sacrosanct and what right do we have to take it away on a whim.

It sounds like the city's got a problem with the speed on your road. Try to figure out the peak high traffic time request that the police post a police car & issue tickets at that time. As for the famely pet I'm sorry but some people are just plain sorry & do sorry things.

If you have a back yard make your kids stay back there and play.. I know what you mean people have no respect for traffic signs.. They speed down my street like they were on the freeway.. Call the local police station and explain the situation about drivers not obeying the traffic law and you and many other people have children and you are concerned for thier safety..

Agreed, call the police, but not just once, do it over and over. Also go to your village board or city council meetings, or county or township board, if you are unincorporated; they usually have time for the public to speak. And don't stop at once, keep going back until they pay attention. Write to your local newspaper, again not just once but over and over. Recruit your neighbors to participate.
What is the deal though with deliberately running over your cat??? Couldn't have been an accident by one of the stupid speeders???

Sorry about you cat, but that is why I do not let my cat out since I live in a suburban area, all local area have lease laws that also relate to cats as well as dogs
so it is very unlikely the police will do anything since you legally must have control of any of your animals

I feel your pain. Some evil pig mowed down my siamese, Dave. He lost an eye, but luckily survived. I think he had to use 8 of his lives up though. Petition the city, see if you can get another bump put in. Oh yeah, get another cat. Lol *;*

Petition your neighborhood to get another sign put in place and add another speed bump. You could also ask the police dept. to set up a radar on your street for a while to get people to think about their speed.

Try calling the local TV stations and newspapers they may want to cover the story.

Streets are for cars, not for playing. If you can't control your children to not play in the street, you should lock them in their rooms. Those lame-*** "this is a neighborhood, not a freeway" signs are retarded, and so are the people who insist on their placement. I speed up when I see those.
Now as for the cat, once again, if it was out on the street due to your negligence, tough crap. If not, and someone DID in fact intentionally run it over, you should start some form of vengeance operation - long term.
I keep my cat in the house where it's safe.
