i am planning to study engineering at university of melbourne.
anybody got an idea about its engineering program?

That is one of MANY factors employers look for today.
They also like to see deans lists, and other outside activities that you do.
Also, a big thing today is experience. They want someone who has some experience.
You may start as a lousy job to start, but you will be getting experience, and it will pay off in the long run.
Look at more than Education alone.
