what you think 50 is too young ?well let them call you grandma if they want because when you are in public, that word will get you tons of compliments.people will say oh my that's your grandchild?you look so young.that's the public benefit of being called grandma.I have 26 grands and I am 56 and I love to startle people with that and I always get the complments about how young I look to be a granny.Use it to your advantage,if age is the problem.Don't shy away from that title,my best friend died and never got to see her grand kids,so now they call me grandma.

Do you not like Grandma? Don't think that using this name makes you seem "old" - it doesn't, it's a badge of honour. I've heard of Nana. How about Grams or Gemma? Maybe there is a cultural word you could find.

who knows maybe your grandchild will come up with something that is really cute and endearing. Grandma is too hard for a toddler to say, so they just make a good effort to say something close.

Call yourself " OMA" (German for granma)
or MEME
You need to be called something that will be WARM and FUZZY to your grandchild and a name that your grandchild will easily be able to say.
As a kid my father's mother made me call her "GRANDMOTHER" so formal----and just didn't have the warm and fuzzy to it!
My other Grandma (my mom's mom) I referred to her as GRANMA----(very warm fuzzy)
