tell them that you are a slacker, which is a sickness, and that they should let you off because of your sickness

I am an expert - as I am a nurse, and so I have worked for possibly the worst and most incompetent managers known to the western world. How long do you need off? (I say 'need' - because it never matters how much notice we nurses give, or what the occasion might be, our managers don't give a damn, thus forcing us to go sick at times. My mate told them 12 weeks in advance that she was getting married - and they still phoned her at 7. am to find out why she wasn't at work on an early shift!). You could tell them you now have Diarrhoea and vomiting - they won't want to see you and you can in the UK sign yourself off for 1 week without a doctors certificate. Any longer than that you are in trouble - although you'd be bloody ill after a week of D&V!! Better would have been sprained ankle or whiplash. And you must be humble and gracious when you do go back, and thank them for their patience and understanding etc.........

At my work they ask for a sick note from a Dr. after 2 days. Visit your Ma another time. She will be proud of you for being an honest person. Plus you don't have to worry about being found out. There are always consequences to every action....

tummy bug, depends where you work.
if you work in hse company then you shouldnt be in for those symptoms.
although bunking off work is fine, you wont get paid. might be an idea to go see a GP as they will wonder why you never consulted a doctor if you were sick for more than a couple of days good luck. and if they call you and you dont answer thats classified as gross misconduct!

Toothache (just put cotton wool in your mouth when you ring) and then say that you have a dentists appointment (on account of the pain) the following day, Friday -or-
if you are a girl, period pain, which has kept you up all night.

ring in work and pretend you are on your way and you have broke down and sound like your depressed and you cant believe what kind of week your having,so you will let them know the following day whether you will be in or not, even though you know you wont be as you will be already up north at your mothers.

Tell them that you are a worthless parasite and it is your intention to drown yourself at the earliest opportunity so that you will no longer sponge off of those who work in accordance with their contracts.
