You don't say what type of fish? Yes it is probably a swim bladder disorder. The green pea idea is a good one.

Most likely it is not a swim bladder problem. If this fish is a goldfish he most likely has air trapped in his intestines. Make sure that you feed goldfish a vegetable flake (spirilina is an excellent base) to help move the air thru his intestines. Air is usually ingested when the fish eats flakes floating on the surface and if you see the problem reoccurring then you should feed a sinking pellet or make sure the flakes sink and do not float on the surface.

Yes it is a swim bladder problem, unless he's about to die. Try a green pea, if that doesn't work, go to your local petstore and ask for a revive or drops. for that earlier answer about the white spots, that's not from revive, its from a disease called ick, or columnaris, which is similar to fin rot. If treated properly, a fish can live. Perhaps the water in the tank may have something wrong with it. I hope that this can help.

Unless this is a fairly new fish so you don't knwo it's normal behavior,..
It may be dieing and everything you do to try to help may be in vien
I am Sorry,. hopefully some disorder or illness will be found and cured so your fish can recover (which might be over priced and only extend it's life for days,.. or the treatment may not be fast enough).

This happened to a few of ours in the past. Go to a pet supply store & they will recommend some kind of drops to put into the water. It worked for us.
Good luck with your little 'fishie' !
