I like the fact that he is standing up for his constituents. This is what he is supposed to do. However, his government appears to be growing more corrupt and dependent upon us. How does he walk that fine line? Is he a leader or a puppet?

I believe the quote from al-Maliki was:

"I am a friend of the United States, but I am not America's man in Iraq."

I wonder if he is all of sudden showing criticism of the Americans raiding Shiite militias as a way of showing that he is his own man with his own country making his own decisions?? Orrrrrrr is this his insecurity coming out as he realizes he alone doesn't have the ability to defeat them?

Prime Minister Al Maliki is doing his best to bring peace to Iraq. But unfortunately the situation is so explosive. Al Qaeeda is active and they are trying to bring civil war to this country.

Installing puppets will not solve the problem. Man with courage and character can bring a change. US must assist him in bringing peace to this war torn country.

I would imagine, most people in Iraq would think of him as a puppet, so he can only draw the people together by by making anti American statements in public

Hopefully a leader. However, he's got a difficult job and NO ONE is going to be able to fill perfect shoes for that job. To change people is going to set them back further and that will cost more American lives.
