1) Increased tax income from gambling, booze and tabacco (they are a combo - like the set meals in fast foods).
2) More jobs for our youngsters - you guys who think it's for the problematic sector (Low skill/aging) think again - Most casinos, if given a choice, will want to staff with good looking and young people who don't have too much obligations. Plus, good looking = distraction for gamblers = more revenue!
3) Make HDB flats cheaper, eventually. Expats buys condos (drives condo prices up), everyone thinks property heats up (thus buy more condos, also bring the prices of HDB up by a marginal), spiral into an overheated property market and crash the property market. HDB suffer more due to broad base selling (it didn't rise much compared to it private peers.) Not to mention income of property agents rises.
4) Increase the number of social jobs. Due to problems in gambling, there will be more councillors and social workers, eventually they will form a large society, and even charity show next time?
5) Bottom line is money and more money. Or else how to give bonus?

Singapore can earn more revenue without having the needs to spent any cents and create new jobs for Singaporeans.
