Yes, I always say thank you because to deny the compliment is to insult the giver. now, that doesn't mean that the effect isn't a narrowing of my suspicious eyes mentally...sometimes I try to figure out the agenda behind the compliment...and sometimes I just let it thrill me....

Yes. Compliments often reveal what I actually think of myself as opposed to discovering what someone else thinks of me (or my work), provided they are being honest.
Because I instantly realise that if I say "thank-you" then I believe that their comment is valid but if I become humble or modest then perhaps I am insecure about the issue and think they are just flattering me. A compliment coming from a person I respect can give me the confidence I need to win or achieve a particular goal. Whereas a compliment from someone I do not respect either has no effect or causes me to withdraw into myself and review my own work.

can be big, and not too big. sometimes I get a compliment on something I was worried about and it makes me feel better, and sometimes I get a compliment like good work for just doing my job and since I don't feel like a did an above average job I don't take the compliment to heart

For some reason I've never taken compliments of any kind very well, but I give them out to others like there's no tomorrow, big and small :)

Yes, they do. When someone compliments me, it makes me feel really good. It's funny how something so little can totally make your day. I try to remember how good it makes me feel to get a compliment so that whenever I think something nice about someone else, even a stranger, I try to make it a point to tell them.

Yes, big time, if they are sincere. Compliments make me strive to do even better. Criticism makes me throw in the towel!

Maybe yes, maybe no. It all depends on the details obtained from Einsteins theory of relativety, when dependant variables are switched with details of the the compliment and myself.
P.S. can anyone that sees this click my name and answer some questions

Hi,
well some people like it ,but not me. If it's impudent subservience and I see it ,then I just ignore it.
But if it's sincere compliment then I thank this person :)
But if I see that it's just hypocrisy then I hate it (of course I don't express myself)! :)
