Here in Australia, the "proper" age for everything is 18, but I think it also goes down to 16, provided that the person isn't too old or something.

But people can have sex with a 10 year old, provided that they are no more than two years older than them. Anything under 10 is illegal.

It's quite disgusting really, but it's not something that they can police very well, considering that it all happens in private. It's not like the police are going to come bursting through your door yelling "WOMG! U R liek, so EVIL! Ur having sex! I r arresting u now! LOL! ASL?!?!?!?!"

((And by the way, Jackie, I had my daughter when I was 20, and I couldn't be happier. We aren't 'ruined' at all. We have quite a happy life together, and she even has the added disadvantage of being deaf. But it isn't a problem at all. Age doesn't make you eligble to have a child, nor can it say if you are mentally ready for one.))

We can follow two options: "Mother Nature" or an age requirement based on thoughtfulness. With "Mother Nature" it's based on when the male and female can physically reproduce, and that's somewhere around 12 years of age or such. But in a sophisticated society we can (and should) allow that 12 year old child to develop mentally to the point where sex (and child birth) is a considered activity because of all the possible consequences. Postponing an active sex-life is better for all concerned, but especially for young immature girls.
PS: don't worry, it ain't going anywhere, and it will still be around, STRONG AS EVER, when you're ready to enjoy it safely

In the UK, the age of consent is 16 for heterosexual and homosexual relations. This appears to be a fairly reasonable age as long as 1 partner is not much too much older than the other. However, I understand we have the highest incidence of teenage pregnancies in Europe so perhaps a bit of decent sex education wouldn't go amiss.

22 would be a good number. But if you make it official, you'd have to put too many people in jail. So they have keep it down to a lower age. LOL.

I really hate this!!! Children should always be allowed to grow up as CHILDREN! Just think of all the happy times and memories that are spoiled by being subjected to adulthood far too early.
