Why is there such a term that seems to be reserved for only white people, is it because white people are 'supposed to be rich' or that they should know better than to be living like the lower class?
How come there is no "black trash" is it because it is assumed that its normal for them to be ghetto (or even ghetto fabulous)?
Whats the difference between white trash and trailer trash?
How about Hispanic, Indo-European or Asiatic trash?

i think you got the subtext of white trash perfectly. in fact, it is insulting both to white people and to black people. trailer trash is no better, because there are some very fine people that live in trailers, and they should not be stigmatized in this way. but people like to use these terms, without thinking too much about it. i'm not sure that i would get too bent out of shape over it. if you make a fuss people will just think you're a little crazy.

it's just one more liberal double standard. any non white who is poor is called a "victim of a racist oppressive society" but white people who are poor are called "trash".

i`m pretty sure it comes from long ago,during slavery, the people who did`nt own slaves,who were just surviving were referred to as white trash.
