Would suggest 20 to 22mm tounged and groved flooring grade chipboard or you could use a board called OSB as long as it is marked structural you can get this from Wicks it would still need to be 20-22mm. Don't put too much up in the loft as the ceiling joists are not intended to take much weight just ment to support the ceiling below! PS if you are going to make a room up there you will need building regulations.

600 mm gap ? 18 mm would do ok, no problem for occassional access and storage..

I like the idea of using 30mm plasterboard !! i guess that from some country other than the UK. Clive T doesn't answer many quetion in the Home and Garden section, thank goodness ( i just had to go and look )

I would use plasterboard because it has fire insulating property's (around 30 min)
