Here is what I found on the internet. I don't know if this will help. But I tried.

PhoneNetUK

in English
Yell.com
Yell.com was launched in the UK in 1996 by the publishers of the Yellow Pages directories. Yell.com Search is an online classified information service that provides telephone number and address details for over 1.7 million businesses in more than 2,500 product and service categories. The service covers the whole of the UK except the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
in English
Scoot
Business directory. Search by category/location, or business name/location. Includes UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands. Seems rather incomplete.
in English
UKPhoneBook
White pages directory for people and businesses in the UK. Same basic data as PhoneNetUK but has nationwide search and complete addresses. Has links to maps.
in English
UK White Pages
UK residential listing for both businesses and people, from the US company Infospace. Not from official sources (British Telecom have the copyright on the listings in the UK). Many people have mentioned that it doesn't seem very up to date or complete. There are many misspelt names, and duplicates, and other errors, use with caution.

There are several local business listings providers in the UK.
Yellow Pages is the biggest in the UK and their online site is http://www.yell.com/
(this one is yellow funnily enough..)(
The Phone Book from BT (the former state telecoms company) is probably the one you mean and this lists businesses and residential numbers. You can access the BT data either on Yahoo! Local (http://uk.local.yahoo.com/) or on the BT website ( www.bt.com/phonebook )
Finally there is ThomsonLocal which is another provider of business listings and they publish a slightly smaller blue directory!
http://www.thomsonlocal.com/
All these are normally delievered free to your house in the UK each year.
Hope that helps.
