What violation??!!! I just wanted to know if the 100 year war stil had influence on my British brothers.
In France, Brits often ask me "why the French don't like us?", I thus say "We have nothing against you guys".

As for me I AM French, and I like James Bond, Aston Martin, Harry Potter and the Beatles!
You see, if Parisians don't speak English with you, it's beacause they have a terrible accent and can't even say "my name is", not because they are scorning you.

I don't like the French.... I love them.
I lived in the South of France and came back to UK and found out that we bluff ourselves.
The French could never be as arrogant as us English.
They are also 10X more helpful.
I went to a party the other day and there were a few French people there, funny thing is that I never heard any other of my countrymen speak French to them.
When in Rome or Paris don't expect the locals to speak your language.

On the whole I like most people; but then I haven't met everyone in the world yet. I don't speak french well but I try and I've never found Parisians any ruder than Londoners. New Yorkers are supposed to be rude too but I found them really nice. Perhaps being polite to people helps?
Slightly (but not entirely) off track;I've never understood why a lot of British people resent the fact that people insist on speaking their own language. A common complaint goes:-
" When I went into the post office/shop they were speaking English but when they saw I was a tourist they started speaking French/Spanish/Welsh/other non-English tongue" Well perhaps they wanted a bit of privacy.

I feel the same about the French as I do everyone else...they fall into one of three categories....
1. People I like
2. People I don't like
3. People I don't know.
I had two delightful native French language professors in college. The concierge at the hotel I stayed at in Paris was sweet. I met this lovely elderly woman on a Paris bus, who I'd have adopted in a minute.
Then there were other people who were not such a delight.
I had the same issue when I went to St. Louis, Missouri. I met some delightful people, and some who weren't.

It's hard to say!
Some French are very nice but most of them are arrogant impolite and very pompous
Alot of people say that France would be a great place if it weren't for the French but believe me this is actually true.
I've had alot of bad experiences with them because they believe me to be English or American when in fact I'm Irish but I must confirm that in general when they find out my nationality they tend to be more pleasant.
Unfortunately this just makes me dislike them even more.
A very judgemental race

I've been playing Medieval Total War, and as much as I don't mean to rub your nose in it, (to which end, I'm not trying to) I actually fought the battle of Agincourt on that game, and I still won, the reason: my 600 longbowmen collapsed the French right flank copmpletely! (mind you, it was made up primaraliy of peasants, and they scatter like shrapnel when they lose to many men! However, if you're polite, friendly and respectful, you will find that even though I am very skeptical toards Mainland Europe, I will be polite, friendly and respectful back.

No! At times I find them quite offish especially if you're a British tourist in their country, they'll continue talking French even though they can speak English. If they were a bit more Friendly then that would change

Oops. Looks like you should have phrased your question differently. Perhaps a more general 'why are the English generally perceived as disliking the French'.

No, much to my own horror, I am being racist. My family went on holiday to France, and they were not hospitable. We liked the place but not the people there i've put it in writting.

I'm afraid its time, once again for the little western European to point out that there is no such thing as a nationality type. You Brits -- you'll never learn Ha Ha.
