Balance
It is...
...beneficial to care, but not to our harm.
...good to be honest, but not to offend.
...important to be outspoken, but choose your battles.
...necessary to work hard, but not to the neglect of your loved ones.
...healthy to relax, but laziness is downward spiral.
...valuable to have personal interests, but obsession harms the mind.
I could go on and on...... Balance is the most difficult lesson to learn. Just when you think you've got it, the scales tip and you have to right yourself again.

Well as I see it the answer is in the question, The ability to LEARN something new everyday is the key to moving forward and all those things that the good people of this crazy answers forum have listed are all things we need to LEARN if we are selective we may miss out on a valuable lesson, so if you dont learn something new everyday wether its learning how to treat people better or wether its just a basic fact are you any better than you were the day before.??

You get each moment only once - make the most of it.
Appreciate what you've got - it's almost certainly not in your control to keep it forever (and death trumps all).
You are responsible for what you choose to do - if you can't control it then you aren't responsible for it.
Guilt for the past is debilitating and useless - regret and learning are helpful.
Don't wield the truth like an axe - shine it like a torch.
Very little of what you do will matter next year, let alone in a 100 years - keep a sense of proportion.
Evidence always beats testimony.
(I also think the list submited by someone else focusing on balance is one of the best answers).

speak and listen to everyone, but do what is really right for you. Do not trust people whom you hesitate to do anything with but still are carried away just because you are enjoying.........it's a sign that there is something wrong and you should stop now. Just learn to say NO, and half of the probs are solved in the first step. These are real life experiences, when you leran to say NO, backstabbers automatically gets seived out of your life and you tend to do right today hence making a good tomorow and good memories as your past.

for me-
first of all, without Christ I am nothing
the hardest thing to remember is fight evil with good. it is so much easier to fight fire with acid
one thing i have learned that has served me well is by simply observing others and their problems you can use the knowledge of their experiences to learn lessons without having to learn the hard (and sometimes painful!)way
last..learn something new everyday and consciously do at least one good deed a day
