Short answer... yes.

Long answer... The government really needs to look at having the "right type" of immigrants permitted entry. Back home in Australia, the government has a restriction on immigration. You have to prove that you have the funds and/or job to support yourself and won't be sponging off the government and taxpayers. Over here, it just seems that they'll let anybody in and then give them a house and benefits too. And just from what I've seen, a British person has to first prove they don't need any help before they get some. I'm not surprised British people are leaving the country in large numbers.... they seem to be becoming a minority in their own country.

No more so today than at any other time in our history. There has always been an influx of immigration throughout our country's history. The most obvious influx was with the Norman invasion in 1066 but the Danes and Norsemen invaded even before them; the Romans invaded also. There have been other influxes of people since right up to the 20th Century including Irish, Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, Carribean, Ugandan, Germans, Jews to name but a few. Indeed, if you go far back enough in history, you will find that there are very few people alive today who could state they were decended from pure English race. Practically everyone is part something or other due to the influx of people throughout history.

Each influx brings rich and varied experiences to those already here. Time was when shops opened 9 til 5 Monday to Friday only with a half day on Wednesdays; banks closed at 3pm everyday and there were no cashpoint machines; nowhere was open throughout the Christmas and New Year period or Easter. The influx of people from India, for example, brought a revolution in shopping and eating habits throughout the country with extended opening hours and new foods to try. If it wasn't for some of these immigrants, a lot of services would have ground to a complete halt.

Now the influx of people is from Eastern European countries. From what I have seen, on the whole they appear to be hard working, conscientious people who pay their way in society much the same as us all. Who knows what revolutionary practices or customs they may bring to our country? At a time when English churches, for example, have lain virtually empty, they are bringing a new wave of fervent Christianity to our supposedly-Christian country. What is wrong in that?

Also no attention is paid in the media to the number of people who leave the country, either because they want to emigrate, they are returning to their home country through choice or that are being forcibly ejected. If these were added up, I am quite sure it would be not much less than the number of people coming in.

Well ... For the government to be imposing EU Worker limits for newly joining countries, kinda suggests that they didnt think about the whole thing properly the first, second etc. time around and are now bolting the door after the horse has ran merrilly off down the road. So ... as a single word answer to your question - Yes.
Ok, so if more coming in than leaving, then how come the NHS is dieing through the Health tourism of people that have never paid National Insurance but still expect a full service. Get a grip. I guess someone doesnt like the truth. As for MASSIVE countries like the states letting more in, errm ... so ? They have masses of SPACE, unlike the tiny islands that are the UK.

I would say no. If you break the numbers down there really arent that many who are emmigrating to the UK. The US gets more and so does Austraiila and Canada which is why they have all gone to the lottery thing.

We get the scare tactics for Eastern European countries but as was shown before they come, they do the menial work and they go back home.

Historically, yes. The worst were the Anglo-Saxons who invaded after the Romans left, killed the people they found, didn't bother learning their language (Welsh, Cornish, Gaelic) or adopting their culture - they wouldn't live in their cities, preferred to be segregated, brought their foreign middle eastern religion with them (and made their own laws in accordance with it) and displaced the natives to the extremities of the country where they continued to persecute them until recently.

If you are talking about recent immigration then no. Simple checks are available if you wish to reassess this situation....

1. Are you still free to speak your own language?
2. Are over 80% of your people still alive from the numbers 10 years ago?
3. Are you free to worship freely in the manner in which you choose? / Are your priests exterminated?
4. Have you been forced to move to the corners of the country?
5. Does your ruler speak the same language as you and come from the same ethnic background?

Hope this helps!

I don't know really. I am just happy that the British get to feel how us Africans felt when the British flooded Africa as 'immigrants' and literally and sponged on the generosity of the people....took their jobs, land etc

Yes it is. On Englands green and pleasant land (the hymn) will only be a memory. If we keep on letting people in and building them houses there will be no land left for us to grow our food.
