I was watching the news today and saw interviews about the current situation in the white house. These people were wealthy, old republicans. They were talking about how if democrats were in office how they would tax the hell out of people to answer the current problems and how they would drag the economy into the mud...etc. So obviously the intention of the interviews was to sway people to vote republican...

What i dont understand is why they cant interview the average working citizen their views. The tax breaks that the gov. just gave out only help the wealthy and big businesses. I think that they should show the opinions of the people who work their asses off daily and get taxed the same as someone who has 15 million in the bank...you know what i mean? And another thing, the economy was better when democrats were in office (clinton) than it had been in over 50 years...how can these people contradict these things and not feel ashamed?

What is your take on this

Well Bubba, sadly, it is because we, the average Joe & Jane are not newsworthy, our opinion is not wanted, sought, solicited, desired by the mainstream news. That is, unless something happens to us that makes us newsworthy, like disasters, homicide, lottery winners, Americal Idol contestants, etc.

Yes, the economy was better with Clinton - I wish we could reelect him again, the Monica issue notwithstanding - he was still a fine president - and I am a Republican who voted for him the second round when I saw how much he was doing for us.

Sorry, but is because we average people bust our humps that these people get richer and richer - and the poor get taken care of to a degree - that is the way that the tax code is structured.

Athough I am not begrudging the poor who, out of no fault of their own find themselves in that position. I'm darn tired of carrying all these people on my back and not getting anything for it.

We need a Boston Tea Party for the Working Class!

I did not see those interviews, so I can't remark on them. This country needs some simple changes to give the power back to the people, here are a few.
1. Change the electoral college system.
2. Take back the party system, all candidates to receive the exact same advertising dollars. No two party system. No less than 4 leading presidental candidates with all voting records and background profiles for all to see, this way the public will take time to investigate who they will vote for and not party lines.
3. Simplify the income tax system, one for employees and one for self employed.
4. The president can only remain in office for 4 years and only be reelected by popular vote in 8 years. Congressmen can only remain in office for 3 years and wait 6 years to be reelected.
5. Free Health insurance for all citizens, if Canada can do it, then so can the world's super cop, the USA.
These are just a few, that is my take on it. ( Reform)

MARK... those checks you got... was just sugar in the poison.
(but I'm not mad at ya)

Republican administrations always run us into as huge a deficiet as possible because it chokes out programs that they do not support. Like free education, etc... It part of a larger picture that serves their interests in the long run, not middle-class or below. Your going to need that money again because since bush took office each taxpayor has acciured over $28,500 each in tax debt. And they have the nerve to mention how Dems are all about taxes... OMG.

Personally, I look at paying taxes the same as paying rent and buying groceries...
I need roads, prisons, cops, firemen, schools... need I go on?

What I can't believe is how they gouge the life blood out of us thru gas and energy prices and then drop them just before election time...

it's like a rapist returning with flowers (that they bought with money also stolen from you!).

If only emapthy were a part of politics. Power is a part of politics. Sadly, power does strange things to people. Do any of us REALLY trust politicians anyway? We hope that they have our best interests at heart, yet year after year it becomes more and more difficult for the average American to support their family. That is the reality. It sucks.

I am a poor white American that works for a living, and I found that 600 dollar check quite helpful. I also found the extra thousand I got back at the end of the year very nice too. Sorry it didn't help you.

Pretty much same as yours. Look at this Administrations history of no bid contracts. Look at who these contracts went to, and accountablility.

They couldn't care less what Joe Average thinks, they outsourced his job years ago.

LET THEM EAT CAKE is where we are.

Hopefully we can change this tide.

But I want to express my distrust for Evoting.

We may need to YELL REAL LOUD.

Be Prepared to protest a bad vote.
