Hello,

I have learn't PHP and I've seen Perl being coded. I think that PHP is an easier language to learn than Perl, but you should try both languages and see which one suits you best.

One of the issues with Perl is that if the file permissions can be messed up and you can easily get a 500 internal server error.

I am not saying that one is better than the other, they both work with MySQL fine.

Thanks

If you're doing web development and you are not a programmer PHP is the right choice.

Perl is a fantastic language to learn. Just buy Learning Perl and get started, once you know the basics it's extremely easy to interact with any database. When you get more advanced you can start using the nice wrappers around the database interface, like Class::DBI.

Hypertext Preprocessor is right for webdesign (different than in specific cases the place you like heavyweight backends) even nevertheless you're able to do each and every little thing with perl which you're able to do with Hypertext Preprocessor. Hypertext Preprocessor is quicker than perl, as perl is meant to be a rapid and grimy scripting language to automate complicated projects. additionally, Hypertext Preprocessor 'feels' greater intuitive for web pages. the two will paintings nevertheless, so i might advise watching some beginning tutorials for the two and finding out on the only you're maximum fascinated in.

Both will do quite well. PHP will be much easier to learn, Perl may (but not necessarily will) offer more to a seasoned programmer.
