Only if you lose hope. Once you lose that then you might as well be Mrs Cleaver and make cookies for your man.

No. Feminism hasn't "lost". It just isn't done yet.
If you consider the number of women with jobs such as film director or other jobs once held mostly by men it is clear that feminism hasn't lost. Feminism has fought many battles over the last few decades and has won a good many of them. There have been times, also, that haven't been so much a battle as having been creating awareness; and feminism has done that in an extraordinary way.
Anyone who worries (or gloats) about the fact that there is still some work to be done when it comes to women shouldn't focus on the few areas that still need improvement.

Face it, women are 3 million times more likely to have extended absense from the work place. It's just a fact, mentioning it is not sexist, just like mentioning that men are 3 million times more likely to pee standing up isn't sexist, it's just a fact.
So, a man will build up more time served than a woman and will be rewarded for length of service.
If a woman doesn't have a career break, then she should be rewarded with equal pay.
Also remember this: WHEN THEY ARE OFFERED A JOB AS A DIRECTOR WITH A REMUNERATION PACKAGE, THEY CAN ALWAYS SAY NO UNTIL IT'S ONE THEY ARE HAPPY WITH.
Why accept a job then start bleeting on about unfair pay afterwards? The decision to take the job is yours.

14 pounds is almost nothing, so we can still assume that the pay is equal. The reason for it might be that women and men are not equally distributed in the various sectors of economy.
And Paul - women do take longer periods off work usually to take care of the baby of a man, who hasn't. In fact they should be rewarded for this, or else there will be no women or men to fight over equality issues.

I'm a producer and I make more than my male counterparts, so I have no qualms for or against feminist movement.
Have you considered the returns on movies women have directed vs. the returns on movies males have directed? Compare the top five women vs. the top five men in each genre - romance, action, police, drama, historical, horror, etc. If the returns on the movies directed by the females are equal or surpassing the returns on the movies the males directed, then it would be unfair if they were paid less on the whole.
But if you are only juding a film based on whether it was directed by a male or a female and NOT the returns, talent or genre, there is a flaw in your logic.

The fact that woman are directors shows that feminism has in fact won - this time 50 years ago, women in management was virtually unheard of.
However, there is still a long way to go and issues such as unequal salaries in the work place is one that needs to be worked on.

No Way...!!! Look at those women tennis pros - paid TWICE the hourly rate in prize prize money of their sad male counterparts... who must play/work almost TWICE as long/hard at Wimbledon, and every other major tournament in the world, just to walk away with less than 6% more...!
And STILL the women stars complain, about a lousy 6 per-cent...! Of course, they do have a lot more time to grumble...!

Funny that - women usually take 14% longer to say anything than men - usually because they can't resist the temptation to stick their own bits on to the end or the classic - just making sure that they have the last word.

No ,it means they are probably not as deserving, certainly when you look at the gender of most succesful directors.but as they get better so i am sure will there rewards, you have got to prove your worth first.
sorry i have just realised that we are not talking about film directors specifically, but the general principal remains.
