Blame the U.N. As a U.S. citizen, I find it hard to blame Israel for settling in Jerusalem. As an officially sanctioned Nation, I would maintain that the laws that exist there exist by consent of the people of that Nation. If those laws are discriminatory against any person with respect to their race, profession, holdings, sexual orientation, religion, etc., then I take offense at that.
Regardless of that opinion, I do understand that Israel is hated by many of its neighbors, and thus requires my protection. I enjoy the character of my neighbor Israel and would like to see her flourish.
Most of the indictments against Israel seem to be about Judaism v Islam. My PROBLEM is that people who worship the same God (aka Allah or Yahweh, respectively) have to agree about SOMETHING. Can you agree about SOMETHING?! Do you really worship different gods, and do the different gods you worship want different things from each of you? If that is the case, my God can beat up your God.

Yes, so horribly, given the history of the Jews, mind you a lot of Jews think that Israel is a criminal state, and is getting Judaism a bad name, even though Zionism is as much to do with Judaism as the Ku klux klan is to do with Christianity.
It's no coincidence that in recent history Israel's best friend was apartheid South Africa.

* Jews have been living in the Lavant for millenia, they didn't just turn up in Palestine in 1948 en mass. Many lived there earlier.
* In all states in the Middle East, when they became minorities they were always oppressed, given dhimmi status and treated far worse than Arabs are in Israel
* Israel was established under a United Nations mandate.
* If you don't know what 'dhimmi' means, wait until 2030 when Europe becomes Muslim.
