I think the press really like Oasis for being the way they are. They're never dull in interviews and always have something quote worthy to say. They sell papers as well as concert tickets.
As for those who think Oasis wrote "a handful of good tunes", fair enough you don't have to like Oasis-their attitude or their music but these lads have produced some defining music in their days-sure this new Greatest Hits is packed with 18 absolutely great songs (except songbird which is a token crappy Liam tune).
And then there's the songs that didn't make it on there like Whatever and Rockin Chair.

Didn't Noel win some Q Award for classic songwriting? I realise many of our genuine rock 'n' roll legends have already departed for the great Great Gig in the Sky due to '60s and '70s excess, but this seems a bit desperate. Okay, so the man has written a handful of good songs, I shan't deny him that, but he's done chuff-all of merit for 10 years now. This latest award says as much about the decline of Q magazine as it does about the lack of genuine heroes in the British Music Industry.

Oasis have done some great songs, their lastest being fantastic. I have one problem and it's not to do with Liam's attitude, the songs that I love of Oasis all have one thing in common, Noel singing them. Every song that he's sung I instantly like, maybe because they are a bit more melancholy, but maybe they should let him sing more, then the Press might accept them...

Oasis are good and at their best in the 1990s, very exciting. I think the London press - like much of London - is spilling over with tossers. If we look at the results of what they champion - radiohead, coldplay - we can see they encourage really lame and lifeless bands - the kind of music you listen to if your life is nothing more than a sad, drunken commute to a crappy London office.

the press might but i won't.
with regards to winning the war Oasis are still knocking out the same single strand of talentless crap they always have done but Damon Albarn has gone into a huge number of music based projects; immensely creative and pursuant of music.
Albarn left the arena for a true goal Oasis just stayed there because they don't have the first clue about how to do anything else than ram huge amounts of coke up their nostrils, be as arrogant as they can and sound like they are singing with clothes pegs on their noses.

It's all part of their bad-boy image and it doesn't hurt them. They really don't give a toss and however many albums they sell doesn't actually stop them being complete twats in real life.
I don't see Michael Jackson's outstanding musical career affecting his treatment by the media.
Fact is, Oasis are beer-bellied, arrogant little hooligans. And that's WHY they're so popular in Britain.

the sooner they stop their horrible whiney music, the better. we've suffered over 10 years of their ripped-off music/songs, and been force-fed stories about them via the media. i just keep hoping that they will split up so that we can all be spared the pain of having to listen to yet more rubbish by them.
