You are not the main character.

I had a dream in which I was not the main character, but rather the action resolved around a French man. I then traded placed with him, but my French was not that great in my dream. In the end, it turned out that he had been a fake, and he had not been French. It was a very complicated dream, involving me [as a French man] breaking my wife out of jail. I, however, never reappeared in my dream.

So, has anyone else traded places in their dream or not been the main character?

Sorry, I don't have a wife, and I don't ever plan on having one.
I admit that most of my dreams are strange and disturbing in some way...most of this dream left me wondering how I managed to string all of these ideas together.

If you're trying to interpret this dream, I wouldn't recommend it...I confused the heck out of a computerized interpreter. I haven't given you all of the details, and I was single in the dream until I traded places...I'd end up writing a page if I told all.

Dreams tend to mirror what is going on in the real world. So, what was going on at the time of this dream? It sounds like you may have been trying to assist your wife with some sort of problem or issue, or that your wife is dealing with something and you feel like you aren't able to help or felt powerless or unequipped to help her. It sounds like you may have started out feeling able to handle whatever it was but soon felt like you were in over your head. What is happening in the day time that makes you dream of being ill equipped to handle your dream situation at night? The answer is in what is happening in the waking hours.

Yeah i've had them, you still dictate what the main character does and its difficult not to switch.
