A bartender at a bar I frequent told my date that I had gonnorhea and keyed her friend's car. Neither is true and I consulted Legal Aid and I found out I could charge her with slander. She was a friend of my date's and now he won't return my calls. Since I don't live in a big city chances are I will run into both of them. Anyone have any comments as to why people behave in such ways or how I should handle this situation?

People are petty, immature, and often jealous. Maybe she liked him or her friend liked him, or maybe the bartender just didn't like you.You could confront them. See what they have to say. Let them know that what they did was slander. You could even have your lawyer draft up a letter.
I think the best thing you can do is just let it go. Any guy willing to believe a rumour over what you say isn't really worth the time anyways.
Try to ignore them and cross your fingers that they grow up.

people like this are just stupid idiots.
i think you should do the guy for slander that way people will know what he is saying is not true and he may think twice before he does it to some one else.
theres a saying people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones.
he is probably jealous of you and if the truth be know he's probably the one with gonnorhea.

I would advise to keep your efforts on trying contacting her and ask for a honest reply regarding her behavior. You should make clear to everyone that this a rumor and clarify your own position and feelings. The best handle is to remain calm and mention the truth. At the end you will be the winner since liars always pay the penalty at some point.

Wow! That was harsh. It is very odd for someone to do something that mean without it being in retaliation. Did she want your friend for herself? I can't blame the guy for not calling you back. I would be running away fast too. Can you ask her to tell him (and anyone else she told) the truth or be charged with slander?

some people have alot of hate inside them and bringing other people down to how they feel makes them feel bigger and better. just ignore and forget those type of people and move on.
