I applied to teach at some community colleges after I graduated but I didn't get hired. Probably because I'm not as experienced as most people who applied. I'm just looking for some job ideas. What is a good first job for a person who has a master's degree in physics? Any suggestions? If I don't find a job soon I will probably end up going back to school.

go to the US Department of Labor website and check out the census they do every two years about job prospects, what education you need for which jobs, what they pay, working conditions etc. That should give you a basis to work from, otherwise ask one of the professors from the university you went to, they usually love to help

The job market is not good in physics, and is not expected to improve much in the future. Their are a lot of Phd's that want to teach at community colleges. You have skills that are useful in other fields, so you should check out the job market before you return to school. Pick something that can not be out sourced. Their are many well educated people in India, China, Russia, etc that will work for wages much lower than you will want.
