It's funny because most Africans wear pants & shirts just like we do, once when I went to Africa for missions, they laughed at us because we were all dressed in dashikis. Just like in Mexico, their authentic restaraunts for the locals are extremely plain with very little decorations but go to a Mexican Restaurant in America and you're greeted by a large, plastic, smiling man with a curly mustache and a huge sombrero on his head. Why do Americans exaggerate like this? But, to answer your question, if you want to look like you are wearing traditional African clothing by American standards, find a sarong in an exotic print. Coming from South Africa, I would suggest the Nelson Mandela look for men and for women the choice is endless. The more colourful the better. You should look under a heading such as Traditional clothing of African women.

a grass skirt a spear in your hand and nothing else! o sorry and some war paint on your face! I'm from Africa trust me!! or a blanket wrapped around you with a long stick in your hand! or a colorful sarong with matching headscarf! must be very colorful with lots of patterns! and of course sandals or no shoes at all!
