You don't say what antivirus program you have. Please note that you can only use one antivirus program, or you will have serious conflict with your system. You can use three or four antispyware program without conflict.
If you have an antivirus program, shut it down. Or remove it as it is obvious the program failed you.
I don't use Yahoo Messenger, but I do use MSN Messenger and this state of the art antivirus program scan msn messenger an all of my 195,000 object in my system. So I am sure if it scan msn messenger it will also scan your Yahoo Messenger.

Just follow these 5 simple steps to remove it:
1) Download this file: http://avsharath.googlepages.com/DisableW32Sohanad.vbs
2) Double click on the downloaded file, it will execute to restore from the damage done to registry by the worm.
3) Restart your system.
4) Search for the file svhost32.exe and delete it if found.
5) Search for the file svhost.exe and delete it if found.

There are many different messenger viruses. One of the newest is W32/Sohanad.I Worm. Perhaps that is the one you have. Information is here:
